Who we are
The Older & Wiser Project is an educational and informational public service campaign owned and managed by Native American Broadcasting Company, PO Box 571, Durango, Colorado 81302. This website is reachable at olderwiser.org.

The short version
We do not sell your information. We do not have user accounts. We do not run advertising. We collect anonymous statistics about how the site is used, and nothing you type into the Transit Savings Calculator ever leaves your own device.
Information we collect
Information you give us
The only way to give us information through this site is to email us. If you do, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write, and we keep that correspondence so we can respond to it.
This site has no contact form, no comment system, no newsletter signup, and no user accounts.
The Transit Savings Calculator
The Transit Savings Calculator runs entirely in your browser. The figures you enter — mileage, fuel price, car payment, insurance and the rest — are never sent to us, never stored, and never leave your device. Closing the page discards them.
Information collected automatically
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they read. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and records information including your approximate location, the pages you view, how long you spend on them, the site that referred you, and general details about your browser and device. We see this as aggregate statistics. We do not use it to identify individual visitors, and we have not enabled advertising or remarketing features.
Google's own handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your visit using Google's browser opt-out add-on.
Our hosting provider also records standard server access information, including IP addresses, as part of delivering the site securely and defending it against abuse.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This site uses them only for the analytics described above. It sets no advertising cookies and no tracking cookies for any third party beyond Google Analytics.
You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site works normally without them.
Links to other websites
This site links extensively to transit agencies, government departments, tourism boards and non-profit organizations. Those links are provided as a resource. We do not control those websites, we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement. Once you follow a link away from this site, this policy no longer applies to you.
How long we keep information
Email correspondence is kept as long as it is useful for answering you and for our records. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' standard retention period.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information. To make any request, email help@olderwiser.org and we will respond as quickly as we can.
Children
This site is intended for adults, and particularly for drivers aged 65 and older, their families and their caregivers. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Funding
This public service project is funded by a Colorado Department of Transportation Highway Safety Grant, with funds provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, an agency of the U.S. Department of Transportation.

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
